Join in the Mighty Membership Marathon and help keep your ACLU/SC strong!

Bringing in new members is crucial to the health and fighting power of the ACLU of Southern California, but it can be very expensive. To have more money to fight for justice and equality for all, we are launching this membership drive instead of doing mass mailings. But, we still need to bring in at least 300 new members by the end of August. You can help us surpass that goal, and you will have a chance to win great prizes, like a weekend getaway, a spa package and a night on the town!

Since our work is important to you, shouldn’t it also matter to your friends, family and other people you know? How about giving a gift membership to a student or other young person, to help “pass the torch” to the next generation?


  1. The Mighty Membership Marathon runs until August 31.

  2. Members must live in California, in zip codes 90000-91899 and 92200-93599

  3. Memberships start at $25. Student memberships are $20.

  4. Contact the membership department for a recruitment kit. There is an excellent brochure you can send or give out, making the case for supporting the ACLU/SC. Specially marked reply cards and envelopes will enable us to keep track of your new members. Just put your name on the cards and return envelope.

  5. Prizes will be awarded for the highest number of new members recruited during the marathon – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. There will be at least one raffle drawing, and you will receive one raffle ticket for each new member you bring in.

  6. Even just one new member gives you a chance at the raffle prize(s)… but the more you get, the more chances you’ll have!

  7. The Mighty Membership Marathon winners will be announced at the 47th Annual Garden Party on September 26th, and the winning raffle tickets will be pulled. You need not be present to win.



First prize for most new members recruited is a 5-day 4-night Waikiki vacation (airfare, hotel and car), second prize is a $500 gift card and third is dinner and theater tickets for two. Raffle prizes include a 2-night Palm Springs getaway, a digital camera, and a spa massage.
