Douglas v. Cooley is a lawsuit against the L.A. District Attorney and Sheriff’s Department seeking to halt unlawful policies that suppress exculpatory evidence in criminal trials.

As a result of the ACLU lawsuit, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department implemented a new system of reporting and tracking complaints against deputies by employee number and name. The ACLU subsequently dropped this part of the lawsuit against the LASD. Learn more about the victory.
