AB 2460: The Good Samaritan Act Needs Your Help!
Launched: September 18, 2010
This Action Expired: September 30, 2010
Description:
Currently, when a witness to a drug overdose decides to call 9-1-1, cops show up on the scene and can arrest both the caller and the person overdosing.
Someone encountering an overdose situation faces a potentially fatal quandary — be a "Good Samaritan" and incriminate themselves by calling for help, or potentially watch the death of a friend.
The Good Samaritam Act (AB 2460) helps reduce overdose deaths by making sure that those who want to do the right thing and save the life of someone experiencing an overdose are not punished for minor drug crimes.
Tell Governor Schwarzenegger that saving lives is more important than filling our jails with more people arrested for minor drug crimes.
