Stop California from Adopting Bad Lethal Injection Rules!

Launched: June 23, 2010

This Action Expired: June 25, 2010

Description:

Last January, we alerted you that the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) revised its unconstitutional lethal injection procedure and was seeking public comment. In response, you sent over 20,000 comments telling the CDCR that tinkering with the machinery of death could never fix a broken system, detailing numerous procedural problems, civil liberties violations and ambiguities. In response, the Office of Administrative Law (OAL) that governs all state agency regulations heard your collective voice and rejected the CDCR’s flawed regulations!

Just three days after the OAL rejected the revised guidelines, CDCR released yet another misguided lethal injection procedure with systemic flaws. Only this time, the agency is trying to slip it past Californians by sending it out quietly with less time for public input. Don't let them ignore the thousands who demanded the procedure include fair access for the press, protection of religious liberty and equal treatment for women. Make your voice heard!

The CDCR has opened another comment period and we have to let the them know they can’t dodge the OAL or the public! Take action: We have until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 25 to submit new public comments detailing the problems that continue to plague California's lethal injection regulations. Sample comments are ready for you, but personalized responses to the new regulations are always better!
